Safety in Our Schools
Learning environments must be safe and secure before student achievement can begin to take place. In keeping with the vision and mission of the Whitfield County Board of Education, Whitfield County Schools is committed to proactive prevention of and preparation for response to emergencies of all types. The Whitfield County School System constantly collaborates with local, state, and federal public safety, health, emergency management, and other education agencies to help ensure that our safety plans are continually refined based on current best practices.
School safety is a responsibility belonging to each of us. Never assume someone else has already reported information regarding school safety. If you know something, say something.
Educators in Whitfield County Schools (WCS) provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and guests. We work closely with with our partners in law enforcement and emergency management to ensure our students and staff know how to respond appropriately during an emergency.
The great working relationship between Whitfield County Schools and Emergency Management is why I consider Whitfield County Schools to be a safe place for children to go to school. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a direct line to connect individuals with suicide prevention and mental health crisis resources.
If you or a loved one are experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress, you are not alone and help is available. Simply call or text "988" to be connected to a trained crisis worker. This lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

See something? Send something!” provides a platform to capture a photo of suspicious activity or send in information with written text. Information received in the app is sent directly to the Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center (GISAC) where the tips can be evaluated and provided to law enforcement across the state as needed. The application is available at no cost for iPhone and Android phone users, as well as iPad users. More information can be found at the Georgia Department of Public Safety website.
