Welcome to Tunnel Hill Elementary! We are a small community based school with approximately 300 students in grades K-5.
Tunnel Hill has been an important part of the community since opening its doors in 1904 when it served students in all grades. Our building has been replaced and updated since then, and we now serve students in kindergarten through fifth grade, but our goal of bringing quality education to the children of the Tunnel Hill community remains the same.
Many of our students represent generations of family members who attended Tunnel Hill. A number of our staff are also Tunnel Hill alumni, with even more bringing their own children to be educated here. We are the best kept secret in Whitfield County. Our teachers, families, community, and students love our school.
At Tunnel Hill, we are a family, and we teach our students to be "Cubs on Track" by being "Ready, Respectful, and Responsible." We hope our families and community feel welcome to come be a part of our school, because you're family too.

This is my 13th year serving as Principal at Tunnel Hill Elementary. I have been in education for 27 years and have served in several levels and capacities. I began my career as an elementary teacher and taught in grades 2, 4, and 5 before moving to Eastbrook Middle School as a 6th grade math teacher and instructional coach. Before coming to Tunnel Hill, I was an Assistant Principal at Southeast High School for 4 years.
When I'm not at school, I love to spend time hiking, camping, and spending time with my husband and two children.
I love our Tunnel Hill students, families and staff. I'm very proud and happy to be a part of Tunnel Hill school and the Tunnel Hill community.

I am a graduate of Whitfield County Schools. I attended Valley Point Elementary, Valley Point Middle, and then graduated from Southeast High School.
I have a Bachelor's Degree from West Georgia. I have my Master's and Specialist's degrees from Piedmont University. I began my teaching career in 1998 at Westside Elementary. Since then I have taught in Chicago, Dalton City, and Whitfield County. I have served in several capacities throughout my twenty-seven years of teaching.
I have been married to my husband, Tyson, for 23 years. We have eight children. Five of my children have already graduated; the other three will also graduate from Northwest. The Griffin family bleeds Bruin blue. I have lots of cats, one crazy dog, and two precious cows. We reside in Tunnel Hill.
I am so excited to serve my community as the Assistant Principal at THE. I am so proud to be a Cub!
